Belly Fat May Lead To Serious Health Problems

Why Stomach Fat Is The Number One Area That Men Want To Change And What They Need To Do About It

Do you have belly fat? Not to be so blunt, but stomach fat is the number one area that men want to change. Desire a flat stomach? There is a program for getting rid of belly fat and it is not an easy task.

There are different categories of fat. The more desirable form, and there is such a thing, is subcutaneous. This fat is located superficially just under the skin and tends to deposit itself on hips and thighs.

Most people with pear shapes tend to have more subcutaneous fat. Women tend to have more of this kind of fat though men have subcutaneous fat as well.

Visceral fat is found deeper in the body and deposits itself in the abdomen. It’s less desirable because it gets itself around organs and is actually metabolized by the liver, which in turn makes it into cholesterol, which then circulates in your blood.

People with apple shapes tend to have more stomach fat and men in particular have more visceral fat, though both men and women can have visceral fat. There is an increase of heart disease, diabetes and heart attacks with an abundance of visceral fat. You need to get moving, now!

As with any kind of weight loss, there is no magic pill, only hard work and patience. Making your weight loss slow and steady is key and the only way to do it is to expend more calories than you take in. Increase output. Decrease input.

That calorie expenditure combined with all types of exercise is the beginning to getting rid of belly fat. More cardio, weight training and other types of strength training will be needed. A change of lifestyle might be needed too. Less beer equals less beer belly.

Why is that firm and flat stomach so enviable? It’s been a symbol of masculinity for ages. Think of a Greek statue. Will you be less of a man if you don’t have the six-pack abs? Of course not, but you might feel better about yourself.

You might move a little easier, your clothes might fit better. This might translate into more confidence and maybe even better sex. But for men’s health, the reasons are too important. Decrease your chance of developing heart disease and heart attacks by getting rid of belly fat.

Pilates is known for improving your abdominal and core strength and the Pilates exercises in general work on toning and strengthening your whole body.

Make Pilates a part of your program and you’ll soon get that spare tire off your body and back in your car.
